The Sir Peter Blake Regatta is one of the best sailing events in the country and it enhanced its reputation even more recently when the Torbay Sailing Club were awarded gold status for their environmental efforts.
Nearly 400 young sailors across 13 classes took part in last month's two-day regatta and Torbay made a conscious effort to limit their environmental footprint throughout the weekend.
It paid off, with the club attaining gold status under the Sailors for the Sea clean regattas progrmme, which is the world’s leading sustainability certification for all water-based activities. Torbay had previously achieved silver status for the Sir Peter Blake Regatta but stepped up their efforts last year.
