Yachting groups around New Zealand can get a helping hand from our biggest dairy company.
Each year, the Fonterra Grass Roots Fund helps up to 300 groups in New Zealand, supporting community initiatives through grants to sports clubs, local emergency services, schools and educational groups.
Applications for the next round of grants close on 31 August and Fonterra’s Global Sponsorship Manager Kane Silcock is hoping to be able to support even more sports groups before the end of the year.
“The Fonterra Grass Roots Fund is our way of championing projects and ideas that bring our communities together and make them better, safer, more vibrant places to be,” Mr Silcock says.
Grants range from $500 to $5000 and projects must fit into one of three categories to be considered for funding: Bringing Communities Together, Caring For Our Environment and Making Our Communities Safer.
In past funding rounds, sports groups and clubs have got help with a variety of projects including buying safety equipment and team gear, first aid supplies and environmental projects.
