The Ports of Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta is one of the biggest events each year but it doesn't have to be all about racing.
Organisers are inviting cruisers to join one of the passage races from around the Hauraki Gulf which finish at Westhaven on anniversary day.
It's a great way to be part of the fun and historic occasion of the regatta without having to organise a full racing crew or full selection of sails, or biffing out all the beans from the galley to get your boat in peak racing trim.
Passage races tie in nicely with return routes from the Mahurangi Regatta, Bay of Islands Sailing Week or a holiday cruise in the Gulf. They are aimed at boats in full cruising trim, carrying or towing a dinghy or tender, so there's no need to worry if you've got a bit more ballast on board than usual.
There's also a chance to win cash and plenty more great prizes, including a $1000 cash prize if you enter by December 31. And if you win your division, you'll have your name forever engraved on our historic trophy collection. Entry costs just $35 per boat.
