The last one sold out and there are expectations this year's Great Blake Race charity regatta will be just as popular.
The event, which will be held on November 1 at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, is the major fundraiser for both the Sir Peter Blake Trust and Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron's international sailing fund to help their most talented youth sailors compete on the international stage.
The Sir Peter Blake Trust's Young Blake Expeditions takes young New Zealanders on life-changing environmental adventures that follow in the footsteps of Sir Peter Blake.
This year's regatta will be the fifth instalment of the event and feature a number of highlights, including live music by Phil Madsen, food tasting stations prepared by head chef Leigh Lambert and a live auction with more than $100,000 worth of amazing money-can't-buy items up for grabs. An online charity auction will also be live in the week leading up to the event.
An array of yachts compete in the race on Auckland's Waitemata Harbour, including Steinlager 2 which Sir Peter Blake won the Whitbread round the world race on. A Mark Foy start, when the fastest boats leave last, ensures tight racing.
Limited tickets are on sale now for $300 per person, or pull together a team of 10 people for $3000. Evening only tickets (from 6pm) are available from $150 per person.
