The AYBA ( Auckland Yachting and Boating Association) is offering their Auckland affiliated clubs FREE Club Safety Boat Operator courses.
Up to six courses are available to clubs with up to 15 students at each course, and interested Clubs are encouraged to contact the AYBA now.
This is a practical on-water training course for yacht club coaches and safety boat operators. An outline of the course is below.
There will be a small fee for the certificates and there will also be an opportunity to get your VHF radio licence at these courses.
Aim: To gain safety knowledge and proficiency in safety boat operation, enabling better safety cover for sailors involved in yacht club activities.
Duration: 8 hours.
Qualification: Club Safety Boat Operator Qualification (Endorsed by Yachting NZ).
Prerequisites: None. (Marine VHF Radio Operators and First Aid recommended. Powerboat Level Two recommended for craft powered by 25HP and above).
