The Yachting New Zealand Youth Performance Awards recognise exceptional sailing performances achieved over the past twelve months. Check out the 2016 recipients to be formally recognised at the Volvo Excellence Awards evening on 25 November.
The 420 pair finished 16th at the Open Worlds in a highly competitive fleet of 110 after nine months sailing together. They won the 2016 New Zealand Nationals, and were 2nd at the 2016 Australian National Championships, and have been named in the NZL Yachting Trust Youth Team to represent New Zealand at the Youth Worlds in December. |

The laser radial sailor secured a silver medal at the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships in Langkawi in January. In the build up to this achievement George has excelled at many regional and national regattas over the years and has also just been selected for the second time in the Yachting NZL Yachting Trust Youth Team to compete at the Worlds in December. |

The 420 pair gained a 9th at the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships in Malaysia following a successful season where they competed at the 420 Worlds in Japan and won the Winter Champs Regatta in New Zealand. |

The 29er pair had a fantastic event at the 2015 Youth Sailing World Championships where they convincingly won the silver medal and were guaranteed a podium place with one race to go. |

The Feva duo won the Sir Pter Blake Regatta in 2015. Earlier this year they won the New Zealand RS Feva Nationals and went on to place fourth in the RS Feva Worlds in Santander, Spain in July. |

The pair won bronze in the Multihull SL16, contributing to the four medals won for New Zealand in Malaysia during the 2015 ISAF Youth World Championships. |

Robbie McCutcheon has enjoyed a great season with some top results. His most outstanding achievements have been winning both the P Class Tauranga and Tanner Cups’, along with placing 3rd at the 2016 Optimist Oceania Championship and 13th at the 2016 Optimist Asian Championship. |

Sisters Kate and Greta Stewart claimed bronze at the 2015 Youth Sailing World Championships in the 29er youth class. The pair currently live in Bermuda but are members of Murrays Bay Sailing Club and represent New Zealand at regattas, and have just been selected for the NZL Yachting Trust Youth Team to compete in December. |

Nacra 17 and Flying Phantom sailors Micah and Olivia became national and world champions this year, winning the New Zealand Red Bull Foiling Generation event in March which allowed them to compete and win the world championship in Newport in October. They also finished 19th in the Nacra 17 World Championship in Florida in February, making them the Under-23 Nacra 17 World Champions. |
