2013 Farr MRX Pacific Keel Boat Challenge
The Farr MRX Pacific Keel Boat Challenge is an invitation fleet racing event for ten leading yacht clubs, classes or crews from around the World. We expect crews from USA, Japan, Hong Kong, Asia, Australia, the Pacific Islands and New Zealand. The regatta is organised by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and Bucklands Beach Yacht Club as part of the annual Auckland Regatta.
The event will be sailed 21st to 24th March 2013 on Auckland's Waitemata Harbour on ten identical 10.2m Farr MRX Yachts each with six crew. Come and enjoy great one design international keel boat racing.
Five overseas crews are now in the process of assembling their teams and submitting their charter applications. The Teams are from
Sandringham Yacht Club, (Victoria, Australia), Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club,(New South Wales, Australia), Royal Yacht Club of Victoria, (Victoria, Australia), Japan Sailing Federation, (Japan) and Royal Irish Yacht Club, (Dublin, Ireland)
Expressions of Interest have also been received from New York (2), Hong Kong (1), New Caledonia (1) and Australia, (4).
There are eight MRX Yachts available for overseas entrants so whilst we seek Charter Applications by 1st December 2012 the yachts will be made available in the order in which Charter Applications are received and accepted.

“We are delighted to confirm our entry for the 2013 Pacific Keelboat Challenge. All members of our 2012 crew have signed on again which its testament to the fabulous sailing conditions, competitive racing and great hospitality we received in Auckland earlier this year. While we are all regular competitors both inshore and offshore, this event was no doubt one of the highlights of last season’s racing calendar. We are all looking forward to another series of fast and furious racing in 2013 and hopefully improving our result of 3rd position overall!”

- MRX National Championships with PCC – a Yachting NZ recognised National Championships and selection series for our representatives in the Pacific Keel Boat Challenge – 23 & 24th February
- NZ Open Keel Boat National Championships with RAYC – 8th to 10th March – this year we aim to step up to 16 to 20 entries and a 3 day regatta
- Women’s Keel Boat National Championships with RNZYS – 27 & 28th April - 3 women crews are already out sailing in the RNZYS Tuesday night Women’s series.
