Emirates Team New Zealand took delivery of the second AC72 catamaran this week and the complex commissioning process got underway.
Work started immediately on assembling the components of the platform (the hulls, beams and other structural parts) and installing electronic, electrical and hydraulic systems.
The yacht will be launched early next month and immediately undergo sea trials and start the testing and training programme.
In early April testing and training will stop and the team will begin packing up for the move to San Francisco. Before the end of April, yachts, chase boats, base structures, and workshops will be on board a Maersk Line ship for California.
The team expects to be sailing on San Francisco Bay towards the end of May.
Racing in the Louis Vuitton Cup challenger series starts on July 4.
