Dear members
As we move into winter 2014 here is an update on what’s happening at Yachting New Zealand…
- The 2014 Commodores’ Conference is now less than one month away and we anticipate a good turnout of Commodore’s from around New Zealand in Auckland on 21st June. On Saturday evening a drinks evening sponsored by Volvo Cars NZ will provide an opportunity for social interaction as well as ‘business’ with representatives from Volvo Cars and AON Insurance attending and able to chat and answer questions. If you are not registered yet or want to know more email Beth now.
- AON Insurance Partnership: Recently we announced an exciting new partnership between yachting New Zealand and AON Insurance, which brings opportunities for savings in insurance premiums for Clubs and your members. Already we have seen some significant savings demonstrated with Club insurance and some working examples of these will be presented at the up-coming 2014 Commodores’ Conference.
- Membership Modelling: Yachting New Zealand has progressed with the current membership modelling exercise and I would like to thank those Clubs that have willingly assisted us with data collection over recent months. We look forward to presenting our findings to Club Commodores at the Conference and having a robust discussion with you about potential options.
- National Sailing Centre: A pre-consent meeting with Council around plans for the National Sailing Centre at Takapuna is expected at the end of June and the Harbour Access Trust hope to share concept plans with the public at around the same time. The Trust hopes to lodge resource consent with the Council in July.
- Hutchwilco Boat Show: The annual Hutchwilco Boat Show provided another great opportunity to showcase our sport to the public and the Weta Dinghy Central hall was again abuzz. I want to say thanks to Yachting New Zealand’s Stu Thomas and our team of Regional Support Officers including Hamish Hey, Kim Admore, Graeme Wall and Wayne Holdt for putting a lot of time and effort into making this a success.
Regards
David Abercrombie
