Yachting New Zealand are looking for an astute individual with financial nous to join our high-performing board of directors.
Yachting New Zealand is the national sports organisation for sailing at all levels, from grassroots through to high performance.
The quality of Yachting New Zealand's leadership has been widely recognised, highlighted by the awarding of the Governance Mark by Sport New Zealand in 2021, and they met Sport New Zealand's requirement for the board to have a minimum representation of 40 percent female as soon as it was announced in 2018.
A vacancy has emerged on the board for someone with financial experience. This is an appointed position for a three-year term and is a great opportunity for someone looking to build on their skills and experience and contribute to one of this country's most successful Olympic sports.
As well as sitting on the nine-strong board, they will also be tasked with interpreting the organisation's financial reports and questioning the budgets and forecasts presented at board meetings.
They will also need to assist Yachting New Zealand's finance manager if there are any issues or incidental queries and they will become a member of the audit and risk sub-committee.
The board meets every second month and the position is unpaid. All travel expenses will be paid.
Knowledge of sailing is preferred but by no means essential.
