Chance to race in Bay of Islands after Coastal Classic

Issue date

The Coastal Classic is one of this country's biggest yacht races and now there's a chance to tag on some racing in the Bay of Islands the following weekend.

The Northland Yachting Association are running a two-day regatta jointly with the Opua Cruising Club on October 28-29, a week after the Coastal Classic from Auckland to Russell. The regatta is open to all cruising classic and racing keelboats, cruising and racing multihulls, trailer yachts and sports boats that meet the standards.

It was organised by the Northland Yachting Association as a stepping stone to get more keelboats, sport and multihulls participating in simple, fun inter-club competition.

As well as attracting entries from all Northland clubs - Bay of Islands Yacht Club, Dargaville Yacht Club Inc, Kerikeri Cruising Club, Mangonui Cruising Club, Marsden Yacht & Boating Club, Onerahi Yacht Club, Opua Cruising Club, Russell Boating Club, Sandspit Yacht Club, Taipa Sailing Club, Whangarei Cruising club Inc - it's hoped a number of boats from outside the region will take part.

Contact raceofficer@opuacrusingclub.co.nz for more information and the notice of race is attached.
