Blind Sailing NZ calls for registrations

Issue date

Blind Sailing New Zealand is appealing to clubs and individuals throughout the country to encourage blind and vision impaired sailors to join their register.

They write;

Blind Sailing New Zealand is aware that there are blind and vision impaired people sailing at Yacht Clubs throughout New Zealand who are not on our register, and we are appealing to those clubs to help us contact these blind and VI members.

There are several reasons why this is important to us;

  1. The 2017 World Blind Sailing Fleet racing championships are to be held in Houston Texas, in September next year. We are inviting expressions of interest from blind and vision impaired sailors who are interested in being considered for the representative team.
  2. We are reviewing our membership database and wish to ensure that we have all Blind and Vision impaired Sailors and interested supporters on our records.
  3. To help us with national publicity promotion and profile as we foster Sailing as a sport or recreation for Blind and Vision impaired persons.

Blind Sailing is no longer centred in Auckland sailing keelers.  We now have Blind and VI members sailing at a number of clubs around the north island in keelboats, trailer yachts, dinghies and with disabled sailing in ballasted centre-boarders. But there are others out there we wish to contact.

Please help us contact all Blind and vision impaired sailors in New Zealand by forwarding this information to your members directly or through your Newsletter .

We invite interested persons to complete the form below as appropriate and return to  the address provided.

Yours sincerely
