The Auckland Yachting and Boating Assosiation have been recognised for their part in helping ensure the international naval review in Auckland on November 19 was a success.
Commander John Butcher, who was involved with organising the naval review for the 75th celebration of the Royal New Zealand Navy, presented AYBA chairman Ian Clouston a chart of Auckland Harbour and the locations of the ships for the review (pictured).
It was presented as recognition to the AYBA, who had been approached by the Navy to make contact with all the yachting and boating clubs to make them aware of the harbour restrictions being put in place for the review.
Governor General Dame Patsy Reddy was present to on November 19 to review the assembled ships, a centuries-old tradition.
Some of the vessels which were due to attend were instead deployed to the South Island to support efforts following the Kaikoura earthquakes.
