It's helped the likes of Jo Aleh, Jason Saunders and Josh Junior with their development as teenagers and the St John's Rotary Scholarship is available to assist another young sailor or crew in 2018.
Applications for the St John's Rotary Scholarship close on June 7 and is available to developing youth sailors who are targeting a world championships event in 2018.
The $1000 scholarship subsidises the cost of attending the international event and is aimed towards young sailors who have the potential of making the NZL Sailing Foundation Youth Team in the following years, allowing them to gain experience at an international level.
Since 1996, many New Zealand sailors have benefited from the exposure of intensive international competition provided by the St John's Rotary Scholarship. Past recipients include Olympians Jo Aleh, Jason Saunders and Josh Junior and in 2017 Seb Lardies and Scott McKenzie.
"It's a good opportunity for our sailors who are competing overseas during the winter to receive some additional support to help them with their campaigns," Yachting New Zealand youth co-ordinator Stu Thomas said. "Thanks to our sponsors, including St John's Rotary, for their ongoing support."
