The North Harbour Club & Charitable Trust has awarded more than $1.8 million worth of grants since inception in 1995 to youth achieving excellence in the North Harbour region, which makes the North Harbour Club one of the largest donors to individuals in New Zealand.
The 2017 AIMES Awards applications are open online, with grants available from $3000 to $30,000. With a total of $180,000 on offer, these awards are an amazing opportunity for youth in the region to receive support towards achieving their goals.

Award levels
AIMES Awards
The top awards for those aged 14-25, recognising and rewarding excellent achievemetns in their chosen category. An AIMES Awards supreme winner is selected from these recipients every year to recieve the Sir Peter Blake Trophy. Andy Maloney, who recently helped Emirates Team New Zealand claim the America's Cup, won the AIMES Sport Award in 2013 and two-time Olympic medallist Jo Aleh won in 2007.
Emerging Talent AIMES Awards (sponsored by Bellingham Wallace)
Recognising individuals aged 14-25 who display considerable promise in any of the above categories. Many go on to win main awards in following years. Our panel of judges will determine whether an applicant fits into the Emerging Talent or main AIMES Awards section.
Gemma Jones, who together with Jason Saunders finished fourth in the Nacra at last year's Rio Olympics, was an AIMES Emerging Talent recipient in 2014. Maloney was also recognised in 2008 and Rio Olympics silver medallist, Alex Maloney, received a grant in 2007.
Junior Excellence Awards (Sponsored by Library Lane (NZ Force Construction))
Exclusively for applicants aged 10-13 years. All other entry criteria and award categories remain the same. Entrants aged 10-13 will be judged only against others in their age range.
Entry criteria
- Be able to demonstrate the achievement of excellence in chosen category.
- Be aged between 10-25 years (Junior Excellence Awards 10-13 years; AIMES Awards & AIMES Emerging Talent Awards 14-25 years) as at August 11, 2017.
- Have lived in the North Harbour region AND/OR can demonstrate a strong affiliation with the North Harbour region (attending school etc) for a period of not less than three calendar years.
How to apply
Applications are made online, however an application can be started and returned to at anytime to complete (before the 11th August). A copy of birth certificate, passport and contact details for two referees are required.
