420 Class Association News

Issue date

To prepare development 420 sailors for 2016 New Zealand 420 Nationals the 420 Association is co-ordinating two Clinics over 23rd-24th January and 30th-31st January at Takapuna.

With the extraordinary special offer from Olympic Champions, Olympians and High Performance Team to sail with newbie 420 sailors at New Zealand 420 Nationals, Kohimarama Yacht Club 10th – 13th March, 2006, the Clinics provide a once in a lifetime opportunity for young sailors to progress their life ambition.

420 Association President Richard Cave says, “the opportunity to spend four days in a Regatta boat, at a National Championships with either an Olympic Champion, Olympian or a High Performance team member is pretty unique and cool.”

The opportunity far surpasses any childhood coaching he had, emphasising the commercial International ‘market rate’ for a Olympic Gold medallist skipper/crew is significantly beyond belief of ‘local New Zealand’ and the grips of a local weekly pay packet.

“We thank the High Performance sailors for their significant generosity!”

Performance coaches are prepared for the two 420 development Clinics. Communication will follow on how five advanced Opti/Starling or P Class sailors will be selected after the Development Clinics, to race with High Performance team members.
