On Sunday 15th February, Howick Sailing Club hosted a 3.7 Class Regatta. Eight 3.7 Class sailors from Auckland and Waikato Clubs raced off for the 3.7 Howick Championship Cup with Hamish Hall-Smith from French Bay taking the honours.
“It’s been 10 years since Howick hosted competitive 3.7 racing. They have some of the best sailing waters in the greater Auckland area and it’s fantastic to see Howick Sailing Club back on the map!” said John Elliott - 3.7 Class President.
Racing was very competitive between the sailors with Mike Jones (Manly), D Snow (Wakatere) and Hamish Hall-Smith all sharing race wins. Howick put on its usual fantastic sailing conditions with a steady north easterly and sunny weather that made it a great day on the water.
A big thanks to Chris Mitchell and John Elliott from the 3.7 Class in helping to co-ordinate the regatta with Howick Sailing Club officials. Results from the 3.7 Class Howick Championship 2015 – 1st Hamish Hall-Smith, 2nd Mike Jones, 3rd D Snow.
