A lack of wind meant there was no racing today at the 2013 Finn Gold Cup on now in Tallin, Estonia where kiwis Josh Junior, Andrew Murdoch and Matt Coutts are competing.
Andrew Murdoch says; “We didn't manage any racing today here at the Finn Gold Cup. Estonia turned on plenty of sunshine but unfortunately no wind...Fingers crossed for some tomorrow!”
Racing on Monday and Tuesday was in very light breeze, and the weather pattern continued today, and the cancellation means there is no change to the overall standings. Junior is in 15th, Coutts in 18th and Murdoch in 23rd among the 86 boat fleet in Estonia contesting the Finn World title for 2013.
“The early morning wind was offshore, and it took some time for the developing sea breeze to kill this off, but when the sea breeze arrived it struggled to increase to more than 5 knots,” explains Robert Deaves of the International Finn Class Association. “The sailors were held onshore under just AP so they could be ready to go as soon as the wind arrived, but by 15.00 the PRO made the decision that it wasn't going to happen, and abandoned racing for the day.”
Racing resumes tomorrow, weather permitting, for day three of the six day series which runs from Monday 26th – Saturday 31st August when the medals and the Finn World title for 2013 will be decided.
