Taipa Sailing Club is a small family friendly club, located at Taipa Point, where the tidal Taipa Estuary meets the stunning open waters of Doubtless Bay. The Club was established around 1952 for Dinghy Boat Sailing including Optimist, BIC, Starling, Splash and Laser class boats. The Club has an active sailing group of both Junior and Adult Members.
Sailing Day is Saturday Afternoons with the aim of getting out on the water as many Saturdays as we can over the Summer/Autumn months, then maybe once a month in Winter, and back to more regularity in Spring. These afternoons can cater for varying degrees of experience and Club Racing for all classes.
Learn to Sail Courses offer a progressive sailing programme targeted specifically for juniors with a keen and genuine interest. LTS starts with the basics (Level 1) and then (Level 2) builds on skills to become more competent in manoeuvres and greater wind conditions.
Taipa Sailing Club aims to hold Learn to Sail Courses twice a year.
Level 1 Beginners is usually held in October each year. We then aim to hold the progression to Level 2 each February. Following this, Club Membership is encouraged, as it offers the opportunity to continue sailing and developing skills.
An Adult Learn to Sail Course is generally organised alongside the Junior programmes.
Regattas feature once or twice a year at Taipa Sailing Club, with the Far North Champs Open Class Regatta being a regular event held annually around late Spring.
