Our first and foremost objective is to encourage and support safe family sailing - both cruising and racing.
The Squadron began in 1968 as the Waikato Trailer Yacht Squadron and in 1990 changed its name to embrace a growing number of keelboat owners. Today it provides a club focus for around 75 boat-owning members and their families. Nearly all our sailing activities are based in the Hauraki Gulf and originate from either Kawakawa Bay where the Squadron operates a secure trailer yacht parking area, or the Pine Harbour Marina where most keelers are moored. Our on-water events generally include a friendly beach gathering or barbeque at the end of the day where members can enjoy each others' company.
Our monthly social meeting, the Nog 'n Natter, is held in the Hamilton Yacht Club from 7.30pm on the fourth Tuesday of every month. These meetings aim to be informative on all aspects of sailing and Squadron affairs as well as providing a social opportunity for our members. Prospective new members are welcome to attend. The club provides informal training and support, both on and off the water for club members new to sailing or who are looking to broaden their sailing knowledge.
