As many as 50 of the top sportsboats from around the Asia Pacific region are expected to converge on Hong Kong for the Sportsboat Asia Pacs 2019 from November 18-22.
The Hong Kong Sailing Federation, in conjunction with co-organiser Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, will host the event, which will be sailed out of Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s Middle Island clubhouse.
Sailors from as far afield as Australia, New Zealand and the United States are expected to compete, and the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club expect to see a competitive line up to match the recent successes of the 2018 29er world championship, the 2017 Optimist Asian and Oceanian championships, 2015 Etchells world championships and Hong Kong’s largest annual regatta, Hong Kong Race Week.
Offering top international level sailing combined with a fantastic social atmosphere, the Sportsboat Asia Pacs 2019 will introduce new strength to the Asia Pacific regatta scene, making this the No 1 regatta of choice for Sportsboats in the region.
“With average winds of around 15-20 knots and sailing in sunshine, Hong Kong will be serving up the best racing conditions of the year," race chairman Russ Parker said. "The week will kick off with the iconic annual Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club regatta ball - one of Hong Kong’s finest celebrations - followed by a week of highly competitive racing.”
