Bucklands Beach Yacht Club have a range of programmes for adults, whether you have never sailed before or are looking at taking the next step up to racing.
They offer flexibility with their courses, whether it's during weekdays or on Saturdays, and they also offer sail experiences and private lessons in their J24 keelboats.
Adult learn to sail - level one
This course is for complete beginners, or sailors with limited knowledge, and are run on one of the Bucklands Beach Yacht Club's J24 keelboats. The course runs every Saturday for three weeks (9am-3pm) and is a mixture of both theory and practical - it is a level 1 Yachting New Zealand seamanship course. You will have a basic understanding of sailing by the end of this course and be a confident crew on a sailboat. Starting date: August 25 or September 25. Course costs: $492.00.
Adult learn to sail - level two
This course is for someone who already has a knowledge of sailing or who has completed the level 1 course and are also run on the J24s. The course runs for four Saturdays (9am-3pm) and in this course you will build on what you learned in level 1 as well as cover anchoring, navigation and seamanship. At the end of this course you will take a boat out without an instructor on board. Starting date: August 25. Course costs: $644.00.
